what kind of asshole serves PBR at a wedding? I piss stronger than that. you rocking an ironic trucker cap and a fixie too? it's not beer, it's more like a temporary tribal tramp stamp. first the sound engine bullshit and now PBR? you belong in LA, you done lost your Yay Area privileges.

MW - my thoughts as well. they'll dick around with his login handle but won't take out the trash when it's ripe.

Of course Funken takes this seriously like it's real life, the guy spends all his time replying to every post people make on the Ableton Facebook Page as-if he's some sort of paid employee.

So, I'll do what I can. Maybe PC users can help me out. That was what I was hoping for with the iKey thing on the ill-fated 'world record' thread. I'd be more than happy to publicise an Autokey tutorial
.
At the risk of becoming an interthread troll, I thought that the max patch riposte to your land speed record challenge could have been developed into something useful for both platforms. I think its a shame that the patch wasn't engaged with in the light hearted spirit that it was presented in. The advantage of max is that its embedded within the Live API, where as small kludge patches, like iac busses or autohotkey scripts are a bit of an intellectual cul de sac.. providing quick fixes but not really helping people get more in depth with using Live. Not dismissing quick fixes of course.. but it'd be nice to keep an eye on the bigger picture. Particularly if you have chosen to create an online resource for people who are starting out making music with Ableton Live.

@funky-funk: what post-number level did you advance to that unlocked a name-change?

Sorry. I didn't realise there was history going on. I thought that someone got it to run. It seems a bit straightedge to expect someone who is wasted to provide full documentation and a video tutorial for a max patch they've blatted out late at night. He'd provided the compressed patch right there in the post. Someone else copied and pasted it into max and it worked. You made a joke about speed records, he responded with one of his own. With some focus it could probably be made into something useful. Nuff sed surely

I read the exchange differently. The maxpatch was full of code because it was the most efficient way to share it with other people. A lot of people share patches like that. Some one said it worked. Were they lieing? Your advocacy of the autohotkeys software does come across as a promotional stance. I was surprised to learn you weren't getting anything from it. Then again, I have really enthused over korg stuff a number of times. Maybe they should be paying me. :D

This is also true of your 'speed test' - a bunch of arbitrary actions that do nothing in any practical sense. Yes, they are actions that people use in Live, but the speed at which that particular list of actions can be performed has basically no inherent meaning or value.

I have a question. With all these speed tips, you must produce a ton of finished tracks (otherwise what is the point of hammering shortcuts/efficiency so hard?). I see on your Soundcloud page that the most recent track is from 5 months ago. Where do you post your music other than SC?

:? um... this is a global forum.

for example, it is still morning where I am right now.

early and late are a matter of perspective... there's the one where everything revolves around the chair you're sitting in...
...and then there's the other 40 or 50 thousand perspectives that the rest of the forum have.

You obviously don't even know how Max code works. The compressed text he posted is the preferred way of sharing Max patches on an Internet forum. Pretty much anyone who has used Max and been on a forum where Max is discussed would know "how to put it in Max."

So given that we now know that you don't even understand how compressed Max code works please tell us exactly how it is you could possibly know whether his patch could or could not "do anything useful in any practical sense"?
