Feature Request: Touch Slider to last touched parameter

Post by Rick Burnett » Fri Apr 12, 2013 2:11 am

A few days ago I realized a really cool feature request that I wanted to share, in case there is some way to do this and I've not figured it out (and I did read the entire manual section in Live 9 on the Push controller).

It would be nice if I could set up a setting in the menu somewhere that would allow me to use the touch controller in a a different way.

If I am touching any control with one hand, make the touch slider value replace that value. while I am using it. The touch slider could be used in 2 modes, return to center or last position.

Just a thought. :)

+1 to that, might even be better than straight up modwheel support

The reason I came up with this idea was from playing around with my Korg Electribe. One thing I absolutely love about a touch slider is the ability to jump to a parameter value instead of dial into it. it just offers more flexibility when you want it.

This is a cool idea. I think a Max patch could achieve this. You should post it in Tom Cosm's Max patch request thread: viewtopic.php?f=55&t=192211

I wasn't aware I get access to the push controller through Max4Live, is that not true? If it's possible I can just write it myself as I am a Max/MSP coder! Will look into, thanks for the info!

I'm not sure to what extent it's useful but here's the thread where they are working on it and have a Push Development Kit. viewtopic.php?f=55&t=192084

From PXT-Live manual:-

4.3 Touch Strip

The Touch Strip will control the last parameter that was selected by clicking on it with your mouse or the last parameter adjusted by an Encoder. It can be locked to/unlocked from the currently selected parameter by holding down the Shift and Delete buttons and touching the Touch Strip.

The parameter the Touch Strip is controlling can be reset to its default value by holding down the Shift button and touching the Touch Strip. If the parameter is an on/off switch or multi-selection (such as a filter type chooser), instead of resetting, this will toggle between the parameter’s possible settings. If automation has been recorded for the parameter the Touch Strip is controlling, this can be cleared by holding down the Delete button and touching the Touch Strip.
