Scissor or Cut tool & Leave grid displayed

Post by Tarekith » Thu Jul 28, 2005 3:05 pm

1. While I know youc an use CTRL+E to cut loops, this gets ratehr tedious when you have to make a lot of slices. You have to select each one, CTRL+E, select the next one, etc. A simple cut tool synced to the current quantize setting would be fabulous!

2. One of my only pet peeves about Live since came out, is that in the midi editor, as soon as you turn off quantize, the grid disappears too. I like to add a lot of small changes to my drums to add more feel to them, so I rarely use quantize when programming drums. However, then you can see at all where they are in relation to the current clip position. Would be nice is the grid just got lighter (or changed colors) or something when quantize is disabled.

I agree with the scissors and its a request that has been asked for a few times before. I doubt it will ever be implemented because some will thinks its ol dhat or something.

The thing is we work with audio and its still similiar to using tape. They had to use a blade to cut audio, so why cant we.

It would be great if Ableton put this in, but if they were dont you think it would have been in there by now?

I come from a Cubase/Logic background and I still miss hvaing mute and scissor tools. I think I will always miss them because they are effective and fast.

progress I suppose

Yeah, it's all about speed, scissors are way faster for lots of edits than the whole CTRL + E business.

I agrre too with the disapearing grid. It has been addressed before, and one good suggestion was a light-grey grid when no snapping is selected. It would be convinient for placing the notes around grid values....

I bump this feature request. The right click tools in Cubase are great: eraser, scissors, glue etc.

Yes, audio editing in Live is way too slow!
