Any way to start Live 9 by hitting a button on Push?
Any way to start Live 9 by hitting a button on Push?
Is is possible to start Live 9 by hitting a button on Push? Granted, it's kind of gimmicky, it would be kinda cool to just hit a button and have it start the Live executable (or the Mac equivalent). Maybe run another program in background that listens on the User mode and turns on Live?

You can do this easily, you just need to press and hold all 64 pads at the same time then turn each encoder 360 using your nose.
Voila, Live will open and it's a very special edition where they've updated the automation curves, fixed PDC and implemented Maschine style sample chopping from the hardware.

Thanks, I tried that but it just downloaded a virus onto my computer. Is there a good way to fix this virus? My antivirus program just shows me a middle finger and my computer keeps telling me that I have AIDS. Should I contact Ableton about this?panten wrote:You can do this easily, you just need to press and hold all 64 pads at the same time then turn each encoder 360 using your nose.

You should tell your cat, and if you don't have one, go outside, find a tree on top of a hill, carve a hole into it and scream all your frustrations out.
*edit* I actually agree with this question and request.

Thanks again for your extremely helpful advice. Anyone here have any REAL advice as to how I can accomplish this?panten wrote:You should tell your cat, and if you don't have one, go outside, find a tree on top of a hill, carve a hole into it and scream all your frustrations out.

If you hold down the record button, Siri will ask you how she can help. Simply ask her to launch Ableton.

Hmm..
Bomes MIDI translator lets you convert MIDI to keystrokes.
AutoHotKey lets you use keystrokes to open programs.
So it's possible, but if you aren't already familiar with these tools it's definitely more trouble than it's worth.

Perhaps Funken can help us with a shortcut?
Re: Any way to start Live 9 by hitting a button on Push?
I'm familiar with both those applications, but haven't used them together. I was also not aware of Bomes's ability to convert MIDI to keystrokes, that's great news! I'll try to come up with some sort of a solution using these two programs. Thanks for the suggestions.infernal.machine wrote:Hmm..

There might be a way to start live when push is plugged in/turned on via the taskscheduler...
We would need to find out the event id for plugging in/powering the Push.

That's an interesting link. That would be cool to have it automatically start when Push is plugged in. I will try to get this to work as well. Thanks!#1thelark wrote:There might be a way to start live when push is plugged in/turned on via the taskscheduler...

This mouseless workflow thing is getting out of hand. It's like we are trying to apologize for making music with laptops or create the illusion that we're not.

For me, it's not a matter of apologizing/pretending - it just feels right. Like, to be honest I am kind of surprised the extent to which Push has become synonymous with Ableton Live for meThis mouseless workflow thing is getting out of hand. Last night I had to do something in Live and I had forgotten how many little workflow bits there are available there, that you don't have access to via Push
It was neat actually

How about if USB is plugged in and you turn Push on, Live launches automatically.
