Push feature requests
Re: Push feature requests
Also on the feature request list: visual feedback on the effect of the Undo key, similar to the 'Clip # Deleted' feedback.
I wonder if this is possible. Basically, the same text that appears after 'Undo' in the edit menu that indicates what you would be undoing... could this be displayed on the Push LCD when the undo key is pressed to give you some kind of indication of exactly what has been undone? Or if not 'exactly' then at least more of an idea.
I'm exploring a workflow at the moment that involves progressively building up melodic patterns through repeated overdubs. For example, I might record new notes into the last bar of a four bar phrase and not be happy with them, so I'll hit undo (rather than delete, because I want the rest of the clip). Sometimes there are odd items that have crept into the undo queue and so it usually takes a few presses of the undo key before my previous overdub is removed. But each time I want to check if this has happened, I have to wait until the four bar loop has played to the end to hear what the effect of the undo was.
Visual feedback on the effect of the undo key would go a long way to solving this problem. In fact, it would almost be a step up on regular Ctrl-Z, because you would always have a description of the undo effect immediately presented to you onscreen.

Re: Push feature requests
Yet another feature request, sort of related. The ability to set follow actions for clips. And their quantization.
So I could create a four bar drum loop, say, and then write a one bar fill in the clip above it with a follow action to use to segue into the new drum loop from another loop. Obviously this would require the ability to move clips around too, although a work around might be to trigger the record in the right location from session view. Incidentally, is it possible to insert or otherwise create a blank scene in the middle of a group of scenes from Push? The only way I can think to do it would be to duplicate the scene above and manually delete all the clips from it.

Re: Push feature requests
a couple modifications for drum track functionality:
• use the 'note' button to toggle between 'normal' and '64 pad / 4 bank' modes. this would be really easy to implement, and could even maintain the ability to record when toggling between the two. not everyone likes step sequencing, so this would make the rest of the pads useful for people who prefer recording beats live.
• use the swing knob for changing pad banks. shift+knob could still be used for swing, and the touch strip is then freed up to be assignable to something more musical.

Re: Push feature requests
Right now, we don't seem to be able to delete MIDI CC recordings the same way we can other automation (hold delete and touch the knob). I'd like the same thing (well, wiggle the knob in this case) for outboard MIDI gear. e.g. hold delete and move your filter cutoff knob to erase filter modulation on that clip.
Re: Push feature requests
I appreciated discovering that you could add audio and return tracks by holding the 'Add Track' button. But it seems that you can't delete return tracks at the moment. I imagine this is just an oversight?
Also loving the fact that you can add effects to individual drum pads - drum sound design would be weak without it. But I'd really like to be able to add return tracks to the drum rack itself, for my CPU's sake.

Re: Push feature requests
when Clip mode is selected, hold delete and touch the "length" encoder to crop the clip
Re: Push feature requests
please Add full mixer support for drum racks in track/volume/pan&send mode.
Hold select + teach control key to expand a drum rack just like a groups track!!!!
Need this sooo bad!

Re: Push feature requests
Please add In drum rack note mode hold select+pad to select it, then hit shift+note to enter note transpose/scales mode to make sounds on the selected drum rack pad pitchable.
Re: Push feature requests
why dont you just add a pitch plugin to the drumrack?adh82 wrote:Please add In drum rack note mode hold select+pad to select it, then hit shift+note to enter note transpose/scales mode to make sounds on the selected drum rack pad pitchable.
Re: Push feature requests
then how do you access the note mode to play the selected pad as a pitched sound?
Re: Push feature requests
why not just have a separate track for the sound you want to play as a pitched instrument?
Re: Push feature requests
I come from an akai MPC background, and I find th 16 levels function for pitch really great for quickly tuning drums, playing kick drum bass lines, creating melodies out of various percussive instruments, and it's fantastic to use on a chopped up sampled track. That's why I think adding a pitched note mode or linking the current note /scales mode to pads would be amazing!
Having this contained within a drum rack would be extremely usefull and enhance everyones workflow.
no extra tracks needed!
This in combination with a drum rack mixer mode would have push on another level.
Not to mention there are several machines old and new that do this kind of thing.
Better drum rack integration is a must if ableton want this to be the number one studio kit.

Re: Push feature requests
Another useful function would be to use the note button to toggle between modes:
1: normal drum rack mode
2: full 64 pad drum rack mode
3: full 8 lane step sequencing mode
And if they can link note/scales to pads then
4: note mode
Then you can toggle between all modes!
If you don't have a drum rack loaded you would skip modes 1&2,
But still have modes 3&4 so you can step edit notes.
Eg. Hit note button, select a pad, hit note button to toggle back to step sequence.
They could even make a piano roll style editor with the 64 pads,
One row per note, use the octave buttons or touch strip to move through notes.
And the arrow keys to move through bars.

Re: Push feature requests
It just occurred to me that I hate tapping in tempo with the dedicated button, Not very tactile for this purpose imho.
I would love if the Tap Tempo button worked either as a toggle or 'hold' action to activate;
'Tap Tempo Mode'

- Will deactivate the 64 Pads from note playing.
- Tap Any of the 64 tactile pads to get the timing right.
- Press again or release Tap Tempo button to return to vanilla Push Mode.
- Sit back and admire how much better your masterpiece sounds at this new superior tempo.

Re: Push feature requests
Aftertouch/channel pressure needs to be diverted through the control path. e.g. When I grab the button_matrix, it should divert the channel pressure messages as well. Having them continue to go through while the matrix is doing other things is causing me problems with my max for live stuff.
