Live 5.0.1 - Freeze/Unfreeze problem

Post by EddyTheEagle » Thu Jul 28, 2005 7:59 am

Hi,
First of all, I'm hooked to live :)

I found this in Live 5.0.1

Freeze a track
Save Song (not sure if I chose Self Contained)
Close Live
Open Live
Load Song
Unfreeze track
Save Song
Close Live

Open Live
Open SOng
Live states that it cannot find (some of) the frozen clips and asks me to lacate the sample. The samples are also not on my harddrive.

This is weird, because none of my tracks is frozen anymore. I would expect that Live does not search for the frozen clips after that.

Thanks in advance for resolving this :)

hi,

sorry, but i could not reproduce the bug,
even using several variations of the steps you described.
May be you could help me along:
Can you reproduce the bug ?
If so, can you tell me at which step you used
'save self-contained', 'save as' or simple 'save' ?
Which operating system are you using ?

thanks and greetings,

ingo

Hi Ingo,
I'm sorry, but I am going on a holiday in a couple of hours, so I cannot test it anymore.

Strange thing is that the Ableton file keeps on asking for locating (frozen) samples while no track is frozen anymore. I'll send you an url to the ableton file, so you can check it yourself. Maybe that file will help you out.

Kind Regards,
Ed

hi, ed,

it is possible (i still have to investigate how) to create
documents with unfrozen tracks that still contain freeze clips.

these (invisible) clips persist in subsequent saved sets, if the concerned
track is not refreezed between these saves.

so the quick fix for you is to freeze track 3,
even if interruped this will achieve consistency.
do not forget to save.

if you know how to reproducably create such a document,
please let me know.

thanks for you efforts,

ingo

Hi Ingo,
I am back from my holiday and during my holiday I remembered something:

While I was freezing the track Ableton crashed. After that the problem of the freezed track that is not frozen appeared.

Hope this helps.

Ed
