Just Bought Focusrite Scarlett....NEED HELP with Virus TI

Post by trance4life » Fri May 10, 2013 12:43 am

So I just hooked up the New Audio interface...I hooked the Virus TI into the Scarlett via 1/4 in. The TI won't load due to the Buffer size not being 64, 128, 256, or 512. I don't know how to change it to one of these amounts because the buffer size it grayed out inside the Audio tab inside preferences. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.....

Live does not control the buffer size of an audio interface. Live gets the buffer size setting from the audio interface.

I got that far...I went and downloaded the actual control for the AI and what do you know...I go to load the control program and now it says no hardware detected!! The driver had been installed properly and the music is coming out of the AI and my monitors which are now connected...SO annoying!

I have a Focusrite Forte connected to a PC, and the setup instructions say to install the software & drivers before connecting the interface.

If you're on a PC, you may want to uninstall everything, reboot, and start over.

I'm confused. Why are you using the Virus TI plus another audio interface? Doesn't the Virus act as an audio interface in its own right? if you're using ASIO, you can't use two audio interfaces at once.

Get asio4all, im using it with my TI Polar and Focusrite Saffire and it enables you to change your buffer size.

When I bounce my virus midi to audio it is never as loud or the same quality as the original coming straight from the synth. The research I have done led me to believe that having an audio inferface would eliminate that. I have actually forgot that the Virus had an interface because I when I bought it I barely even knew how to use Ableton, much less what an AI was. At this point I just want to find out how to get the Hardware of the Focusrite to be recognized by the computer...

Just found my answer,

Can I use Scarlett MixControl with the Scarlett 2i2?
No, the Scarlett 2i2 is not compatible with Scarlett MixControl. All of its controls are hardware based instead. To change buffer size and sample rate go to the audio preferences in your DAW (Mac) or press the control panel button from the audio preferences in your DAW (PC).

So, if I can't change it using the software, and I can't change it using LIVE, then where can I possible change the buffer size so that I can run my TI through the Scarlett. hmmmmmm :?: :?:

I have the ASIO that I was using previously. Was simple to change the buffer size. But once I switch over the the Scarlett, im totally lost!
