Also don't forget you can save all instruments and effects as defaults with the settings you want. I.e with the filters turned on. Just set up the instrument how you want it to be on load, then drag it to the defaults folder in the user library. Every time you load the instrument it'll be just how you like it

Also, when you're building, a drum rack from scratch, the hot-swap function should work like it works in Live. When you click the Browse button and you are able to flick with the up and down green buttons, you should be able to hear the samples just by going up and down, and not having to load the samples. It should work like it does on the screen when you hit the hotswap button and you can flick witht he arrow keys to listen to the samples. I know it may seem like a minor point, but this slows down the workflow tremendously.
THIS!!!!!

Anyone knows what is the best way to create custom drum racks to be used simply with Push? 128s? Your thoughts?

I would like to switch individual samples easily without, scrolling through all the stock samples AND i hate that i have to press "load" on an individual sample to audition it. Currently it works better with a keyboard.

I have some "vintage drum machine" samplepacks that I want to create drum racks from (roland r8 etc), but don't want to do it wrong, since it will probably take a long time, to create all the racks.

Yes. Build "the last drum rack you'll ever need." Or whatever it's called.

ok, sorry. maybe i was a bit douchy in the first post. but what i meant, suburbanthug, was have input from yous, as what is the most correct way to create for example some drum rack named "oberheims whatever", but at the same time i could change 20 kicks which are also included in the "my drum machine folder" and not jump to "stock hits list".

a) 128s seems good, since then i can pre-audition without loading the sample, but at the same time, it hits the cpu, when i have like 50kicks and snares loaded in the rack.
b) the hack (mentioned in this forum) that i can make my own folder and then look for hits without browsing through all the stock folders is also good, but then its this odd thing that it does not work like using the computer screen and keyboard (does not audiotion without loading).
c) ?

the idea is to create for example 5 drumracks that i can easily browse through only via push and not to create "the last drumrack i ever need".

Yes this!

You want to be able to audit the samples 'in-place' immediately when you select it ... maschine has this and it is one of the strongest workflow features that it has.
