I've got a lightning fast SSD disc on my MacBook Pro, OS X 10.8.3, and still I often get a flashing D in the top right corner... If I restart it usually gets better, but suddenly it happens again.
The session is not really big, so it's strange. I've been running 100+ tracks in Cubase without any problems at all so what's up with Ableton?

Re: Hard Disk Overload??
Yep, there's definitely something wrong happening, and it's not just since L9.
We asked Ableton to take this into account during beta (pre-release) phase, but...
It would be seriously interesting to have info on this.

Re: Hard Disk Overload??
i had this for the first time with live 8 the other day. it's worth checking your memory usage.
i found that memory was increasing steadily until all 2gb ran out and the o/s started using paging space (and therefore hammering disk i/o)
it was causing audio playback and recording dropouts. if i stopped ableton and restarted, it was fine for 5 mins... until memory ran out again and then the same happened. looks like some kind of memory leak.

Yeah Im having the same problem
Can run loads of stems in cubase, but ableton 9 is haveing disk overloads all the time with 30 tracks of audio
