using ableton push to dj
Does anyone know if i can use Ableton Push to perform live djing?
I have read up that APC40 is the best for this but i would like to mix and perform live using ableton push since i invested so much money into it.
I know i can perform live by triggering clips , But im not sure if i can use the knobs for effects and perform djing with it.
add to that im completely new to this. Ive tried googling but cant find topics related to this.

It is possible to DJ with this but there is currently no standard method for DJing in Live. The APC-40 would be more suitable as it comes with faders but there are other ways around it. If you are new to DJing in Live this might be helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEJCFdheruI
You can control effects from Push using the knobs but using the knobs to control channel volumes may take so getting used to if suitable at all.

yes the knobs auto map to 8 parameters of the selected device.
if you plan on getting into producing and djing push would be cool
it's short comings on stage can be easily compensated with a second controller.
but if you are going to focus on DJing maybe look at other controllers
with more knobs, fadders, and easier to customize.

Actually i want to be more of a producer and dj now and then as well as perform. But im just thinking of how to dj using push as i come from a serato background and i dont know how to cue using headphone as there isnt any headphone jack for me to cue the incoming track before fading in
Re: using ableton push to dj
you'll need a soundcard with dual stereo outs if you want to cue to headphones. Why not use your serato card?

Re: using ableton push to dj
DJing in Live has a relatively different workflow from DJing with Serato. Because you warp your tracks in Live, manual beat matching on the spot is made obsolete. Because of that, in my experience, it doesn't leave much to cue when fading in as generally you want to hear the main output of the mix.trippyeinstein wrote: Hi,

The great thing about DJing in Live is that it can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be.
