Djing 4 channels of Audio w/ Effects On Allen&Heath Xone 4d

Post by sean.goldcamp » Thu May 09, 2013 10:09 pm

Hi Guys,

So I am currently using ableton to DJ, and I have the following problem.

As of right now, I am routing 3 tracks of audio to my send A (using as fx send/return) and 3 tracks of audio to my send B (using as fx send/return). This way, I have all my effects loaded into the sends/returns A and B, and send the audio to pass through these effects channels.

Then I have the Send A routed to In/Out Channel 1&2 on my mixer/soundcard (vertical fader 1 on my mixer aka side A), and I have Send B routed to In/Out Channel 3&4 on my mixer/soundcard (vertical fader 2 on my mixer aka side b).

I want to create a send C and a send D to send to my faders 3 and 4 (5&6, and 7&8 on my soundcard), but here is when I run into problems.

When I turn down the volume on my audio channels 1-3 (send A) and 3-6 (send B), as long as I have the volume still up on the send A and send B channels the volume still goes through (this is the only way I have been able to use the effects, because if I use the volume of the original audio track it comes through without the effects. When I try to do this for Send C and Send D, it doesnt work. If I turn the volume down on the audio channel, the volume DOES NOT come through on the effects channel. What am I doing wrong? Everything is routed correctly--

Please help!!!

Are your new Sends set to Pre-Fader? They should be if you want the audio from them to still hit the return tracks even with the source tracks' volumes down.
