Definitely a RAM problem with L5???
Definitely a RAM problem with L5???
Some sets with very long delays (filter delays chained one to another with center channel off and all filters off), that is 4 bars (16 beatsX4) used to open and work like a charm with L4.
With L5, the same set takes 3 minutes to open, and any action is so slow you could think L5 has crashed. I rebuilt the set progressively as a test, and the more delay i insert, the more sluggish L5 becomes... mmmmmm.... never had this problem with L4, where i could push my 768 Megs of RAM to the limit. HOW COME!!? Does L5 handle the RAM differently?
I use Windows XP1 (setup info in signature...) and, again, never had this with L4...
Other CPU intensive sets made with L4 just work finewith L5, ...just long delays related sets bring the trouble. Souncard settings are the same, PDC is off, i trashed all the preferences, ... nothing works! Definitely a RAM related problem, seems like...
But my RAM is fine otherwise. To be sure, i made with L4 a huge delay settings set, like 32 bars delay, and it opens within 15 seconds. The same set would take 30mn to open with L5, i guess!
Anything i missed or forgot to check??
Also, new with L5, i now have a small 1kb floppy image file called "ambt" in my live sets folder and it's having the "modified date" uppdated each time i use L5.
Anyone mentioned in a post? Or is it just a normal thing i didn't read about?

Alex, thanks a lot for the quick reply, i really do appreciate!
Ok, the difference in RAM usage is only 20 Megs, which is nothing. I apologize, i should have been more "scientific" before posting: i made a test set with Bionic delay, setting the tempo at 20 bpm, and chaining 12 of them, maximum delay time .... no problem. Also, i made another set with plenty of "Filter Delays" one after another, but with short delay times, ie: low RAM usage...well... the problem occurs agian! Which means that this is apparently not a Ram problem, but a "Filter Delay" problem: if i chain more than 4 after another, then the sluggishness happens. As soon as i have time i will experiment with other Live delays (Simple delay and PingPong), and see what happens.
But in short: sorry, my mistake, it seems that this is not RAM related. More some kind of effects chaining issue.
I'll post again after i experiment more...
And if you don't mention about this little "ambt" file, i guess it's because there's something i didn't read in the manual, so i'll get back to it or do a forum search.
Thanks a lot!

OK, Alex, i'm sorry i wasted your time for almost nothing! The PROBLEM is STILL HERE: chaining "Filter Delays" makes L5 sluggish on my machine,
BUT:
-definitely NOT a RAM problem...
-i replaced all by simple delay (why did i think it couldn't be a true stereo delay and use filter delay instead!?) and it works as flawlessly and incredibly easily as L4 now.
I'm chaining 8 simple delays, at a low tempo, that is 8 bars loop at 70 bpm and everything is like a charm!... and sets loads almost instantly. Back to
(looper's) paradise!
Next time i swear i'll experiment a little more before claiming a bug
Thanks Alex, thanks Abes,

Yesssssssssssai!!!

i'm having a RAM issue as well- not sure why. installed Live5 (newest version) and opened a session i was working on in Live4 (newest version).. after a while i got this error- "not enough RAM available. save your session and quit"
i checked the task manager and live is using 522,436K of RAM. i have no other apps open. i'm using a lot delays, compressors, reverbs. the session works fine in live 4. i have never gotten this or any error in live prior to this one.
Seems kind of buggy/sluggish. I have 2GB of RAM. i took all the samples out of RAM so they are all streaming from the harddrive.
I guess i'll go back to using live 4 until the bugs are out. bummer.

I'm having a ram problem aswell, although it seems to be weirdly random cpu shifts....not even running many audio tracks in a new tune i have started in 5, and whilst it spends most of the time sitting a round 14%cpu, i start to play around a bit, and it suddenly shoots up to 60% and wont go down until i press stop, and also starts to stutter the audio
