Those are the consequences of nationalism, an old european political theory. In '800 and '900 almost every nation was nationalist. Nowadays nationalism is practically dead, but in the USA, France, some UK "old-fashoned" nationalist parties and small countries like Croatia and Serbia (because they are small, otherwise they count for nothing). Maybe, Israel, too (but I am not sure about that).

I can see here why you generally prefer to communicate visually.

The socialists lost the thread when they were unable to answer the most basic of economic and moral questions. And also when they confused capitalism and fascism. And we're unable to understand racism. And resorted to image-based marketing in lieu of logical arguments. And were funken. And weren't LSZ.

Funny how in every political thread that happens you make a disclaimer early on saying you're "done with politics" or "not allowed to talk politics" and then 100 of fucken's political posts later here we are.

The term nationalism was coined by Johann Gottfried Herder (nationalismus) during the late 1770s. Precisely where and when nationalism emerged is difficult to determine, but its development is closely related to that of the modern state and the push for popular sovereignty that surfaced with the French Revolution and the American Revolution in the late 18th century and culminated with the ethnic/national revolutions of Europe, for instance the Greek War of Independence. Since that time, nationalism has become one of the most significant political and social forces in history, perhaps most notably as a major influence or postulate of World War I and especially World War II. Fascism is a form of authoritarian nationalism which stresses absolute loyalty and obedience to the state, whose purpose is to serve the interests of its nation alone. Benedict Anderson argued that, "Print language is what invents nationalism, not a particular language per se".

As you can see, the only nations still "nationalist" are the one I quoted. In the rest of the world nationalism is practically dead (apart folkish and harmless events like world football championship, olympics games etc.).

Bullshit, there are only degrees of nationalism when it comes to countries.

Well, name me some other current nationalist countries apart the ones I quoted, then
Of course for "nationalism" I mean "dangerous and harmful thoughts of supremacy upon other nations" not happy citizens celebrating their nation down the road because their football nation team won the game...
And let alone dictatorships like North Korea, etc. in which citizens are compelled to be "nationalist" even if they would not give a damn, of course.

I really don't care what your definition is, let's go with the dictionary definition shall we?
: loyalty and devotion to a nation; especially : a sense of national consciousness exalting one nation above all others and placing primary emphasis on promotion of its culture and interests as opposed to those of other nations or supranational groups
Every large country has nationalist beliefs, and smaller ones share in the excess through nice little things like the World Trade Organization, G8, "peacekeeping forces" in Afghanistan and similar mostly one sided conflicts, of which your country participated in all mentioned. So don't give me this line about how it's only the big dogs that play at bullying and nationalism, any country with a vested interest in power and control plays a role in nationalist and 'globalist' tendencies, which aren't really that far apart.

Plus the fact is every single country on this planet I know of has a conservative party, and conservative parties have traditionally been nationalist parties, period.
