Live or Suite 9

Post by st303 » Tue May 28, 2013 6:56 pm

I'm currently using Ableton live 8 and Komplete 9. i'm considering upgrading and i'm wondering if i should upgrade to live 9 or Suite 9, it just seems that their is a lot of overlap between what i have with Komplete and Suite, what should i do?

Suite 9 certainly has a ridiculous amount of content, especially when you add M4L to the mix.

Maybe spring for L9 now, and wait for a holiday sale to upgrade to Suite? You should be able to upgrade later on for a price very similar to the full price now.

There would be alot of overlap with suite 9, but it might worth it just for max for live.

Im enjoying the convolution reverb quite alot, and theres tons of other goodies in there too!

I'd say if you ain't gonna go for suite, just stick with 8. It's the sounds and max for live that make the upgrade worth it. You don't just get loads of sounds, you get loads of quality usable sounds. It really is worth it

Max4live is what really counts for Suite, if you don't need it, skip 9 for a while until new sales comes.

I have both Suite and Komplete 9, on Live 8.
I use Komplete about 90% more than Suite. then again, I'm not a Racks guy, and I don't have Max 4 Live, so...
To me anyway Operator is still the best thing in Suite.
FWIW I also picked up the AAS Modeling collection a while ago so I tend to use their more full featured versions over Live's.

Get Suite when the upgrade is on sale.

My good advice is: suite if you have a desire to use M4L devices. Yet, to get the best of M4L you need to spend time with it and learn MSP.

Komplete if you are more into preset, altering preset sounds and creative flow. Which I mean you want to make music not spend 6 months learning on MSP.

However, long term effect learning Max/Msp will bring greater rewards in the long term. You are the only one who can tell which way you feel you want to go.

You can't do both make music and learn programming deeply.... unless you have plenty of time.
