Multiple clips playing in the same column?

Post by p/lb » Fri May 31, 2013 10:12 pm

I'm sorry if this has been posted before, but searches didnt bring up an answer. Is there any way to have ableton not stop a clip in a column if you launch another clip in that same column? I'd basically like to set up ableton with my mpd32 to act like an sp404. I have the script that gives you a 4x4 red box for the mpd, but I don't know if/ how I could have multiple clips playing in the same column. Is there any way to do this? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the point of the columns is to stop playing one thing when you launch another, like a musician changing parts.

Set up multiple Midi channels and route the the midi channels to the channel you want. That will allow you to have multiple clips playing the same VST/Ableton instrument at the same time.

If you group channels and collapse them you can technically get multiple clips per column but they would still live on separate tracks within the group. Not sure if that helps at all but it's a start

^ stagger the clips in the group and remove the stop button below clips you'd like to keep playing.
