Zipper noise when triggering something

Post by 0x80 » Sat Jun 08, 2013 9:48 pm

This is driving me nuts! Every time I hit a scene trigger or clip trigger or even the stop button, I get a digital zipper noise. This is on a fairly big project, but I have changed the audio buffer to 512 samples and I still have this issue. I need to go live with this thing in a 12 hours :(

Even if I'm pushing Live it shouldn't not mess up the audio like that!

I really hope someone knows a fix.

Sounds kind of cool. Does anybody know how I can make this happen to my audio???

Makes me think it is the sound that goes through the power adapter when the computer revs up the hard drive.

Are you using an external audio interface?

Try it on just battery power for a moment to see if the problem goes away.

If it does go away, in rare cases you can use your power adapter on a different outlet and it'll disappear.

If not, I don't know. Sorry if this is not helpful, that is the best I've got on this.

I'm using a Fireface400 and its powered by adapter. I think it's more like cpu spikes. It doesn't happen with small projects. I guess the Live scheduling is a bit dodgy up. If the GUI triggers are messing up the audio scheduler that's f*cked up.

I think the best I can do is wrap it up, clear out all unused tracks and plugins and pray that my computer can keep up in the end. Unfortunately I can't make the buffer 512 or bigger because then I can't get play live with midi input.

Oops. Sorry, I meant to say the computer itself on battery power. Assuming it was a laptop...

But yeah, I'm sure it isn't the problem. (The only reason I thought it might have been is because the hard drive does things every time you select session items, buffering samples.....actually, I'm not 100% positive that it does that even, but I have had this particular problem myself, probably not the same as yours).

I have cleaned out the tracks of my session and now its gone. It was there until i deleted one particular track which had a lot of recorded audio on it. Strange. Must be something to do with resources. I'm now back at 128 buffer size without problems. I will see if I can investigate further.
