CPU Spikes with Audio Interface (Issues)

is it an usb audio interface? if yes, i would say it is your motherboard. it is not possible to solve this problem, except changing the motherboard :/

i can make it happen even without an external soundcard plugged in.
also, it didn't happen some months ago. and no, i havent made any changes to my computer.

so it could be ur usb driver. maybe. did u tried to reinstall everything? (making new windows or osx?)

Why would it be my USB driver all of a sudden? No, I haven't reinstalled everything but it's in the plans at some point.
My computer works very smooth in every other respect and has enough power.

If I were you I would try to use another DAW just to isolate the cause
You could try Reaper to see if you get spikes on the same system under load.

If the problem also reproduces with that one it means it is down to some driver (likely your audio driver but not necessarily so).
Let us know how you get on with another DAW..

This is so majorly frustrating.
A big set that used to work fine has now been split into two because of the CPU peaks and audio dropouts.

F***ing hell, even one half of the set is doing the CPU peaks now, causing dropouts.
Got two live shows ahead – what the f0ck am I going to do about this???
So fucking frustrated right now.

I've been loving Live for years but my faith is really being tested atm.

if it's working with L8, go back to L8...
if it's the same.. the problem is with the computer / audio interface
