i hate that.
open = explored that, next
so simple...

That's not really the point. Maybe I only like 1/2 the presets in the Retro synths pack, for example. It's ridiculous that I can't remove the 1/2 that I don't like from the browser. Instead I'm forced to dig around twice as many presets as I need to. Multiply this out over all the packs you get with Suite and there's a significant amount of garbage we're forced to sift through. The answer is not 'don't install packs you don't like 100% of'.

^ yes.
the browser is too fucking Apple and needs to be a lot more Windows or Android. Ableton needs to just ask the team designing it to go pick up something in New Zealand and while they're out of the office get Angstrom to have a go at tightening some things up. when they return, he can yell surprise and jump out wearing a party hat while popping a Christmas cracker and giving them the plastic pony.
i don't have all these problems with the browser... BUT... i cannot deny or even joke about what people are saying not making perfect sense. they're not asking for unrealistic features or changes... just for a database that is logical and fairly flexible when the smoke from the indexing clears.
any way you slice it; Ableton need to explore some 9.x flexibility type options as it pertains to this.

I also wish I could do this, or at least just see the stuff I like in some kind of "favorites" folders.. I'm newish to Ableton and learning 9 Suite, there's so much stuff I'll never use... (although I'm glad for the variety) is a "personal faves" marking system possible?

Moosebear: if you save the presets you like with an altered name, they will show up in your "user library" under places. I am obviously annoyed by a lot of the browser behavior, but i am actually ok with how i can set up the user library area.

Huh, that is a great idea. Not sure why that did not occur to me before. Thanks! Now I never have to go back to that stupid browser.
