Ableton Live "Sighting"??? / tv commercial q's

Post by adidasguy » Sun Jul 31, 2005 8:11 am

In the last few days here in the san francisco bay area, I've seen a new Nike Ad on TV - it shows a guy running (with one drum loop playing, then it cuts to a different person running, with their own drum loop playing, etc... in the last part, a bunch of people are running together, and all the drum loops that were played for them individually are now playing at once... I thought.... hmmmm live at work? - any Ideas?

Speaking of commercials, anyone know the synths+techniques used to do the scion commericals? (the one where people are talking about how they customized their scion has some interesting sounds playing in the background....)

Thanks!

probably seeing as live is the only music software that allows you to sync drum loops on top of each other

I believe edIT did the music for the Scion commercials. More info on him here http://www.myspace.com/edit or go to http://www.complexplayersclub.com/
Check out his album "Crying Over Pros for No Reason" lots of good editing/sound design on that album.

I've seen and heard plenty of commercials that had the all-too-distinctive beats time-stretch written all over them - I believe there was a Nokia commercial with a piano-piece being mutilated, most likely by decisions made because of a quickly approaching deadline...
