Did they ever fix the lights?

Post by G-force » Thu Jun 20, 2013 5:19 pm

I read initial discussion that the LED lights weren't consistent across the board. Did this issue ever get resolved with new shipments of PUSH? Just curious.

Not sure if they did, haven't heard anything in regards to the lights for awhile now. Have the new shipments even arrived yet? I'm still eagerly waiting for mine to come in.

By the looks of this forum lately the new shipments haven't arrived yet. The Push sub-forum has been quiet for more than a month.

Just received mine yesterday (New York City) and half the white pads are purple. Still screwed.

I received my Push on July 11 and I've got the same problem. The White LEDs range from pink to purple.

I've been considering the livid instruments base control or push. I'm afraid of the lights are a deal breaker. would you guys not want to use it because of the color difference? base doesn't seem to suffer from this.

It gives the haters who resent you for spending so much on a controller a big obvious thing to make fun of, but this doesn't lead to confusion or wrong button presses on your end. When you're in the zone playing, you won't even notice the pinks and the purples.

Even with the color discrepancies, Push has nicer LEDs than Livid Base. Base has more expressive control (as the per-button pressure sensitivity is expressed as CCs, which Live doesn't filter out. This same data is lost with Push, because Live does filter out poly aftertouch). Base has half as many pads, but multiple capacitive touchstrips (which are much nicer than Push's encoders). Lots of tradeoffs in either direction. Both controllers are good. Both serve different needs.

In summary, there are more important factors than the LED quirks, but it's ultimately a personal decision.

Yours must not have it very bad. It's impossible to not notice on the majority of them. This is mine: http://imgur.com/h7ZgYZf

i meant that unless i had read about it, i probably wouldn't have noticed that this was a defect, tbh.

Does it make a difference if plugged in vs. USB power?

Velocity setting in drums is a pain with a rainbow. Some units are worse than others. Even with a custom skin file I still have issues. They hope to have a fix for this by the end of the month and will extend return times till they figure out if this is fixable via software/firmware or not.

Still lovin' the thing though. Just wish they'd implement direct recording into arrangement view already. :)
