I understand well we have a different sense of humour because of different cultures etc. But, please, understand I am laughing about your definition of "americans" not about "americans", as if "americans" were something real. What are "americans", apart your definition? My guess: due to "melting-pot" (or whatever they call it), the U.S.A. government had to find something "unifing" all these different cultures living there, so they created this "nationalism", the flag's religion, all the ridiculous things we can watch on americanTVs, movies, etc. Otherwise, how can an afromerican fight a war together with an italian living in NewYork, together with a native american, together with an ispanish, etc.? That's the reason, in my opinion: they had to create "nationalism" because of "unity" (for war). Just this. Otherwise, "U.S.A." as intended by dictionaries would be just a rather caothic and disomogeneous sort of minestrone. Just like Europe, today: it is a political "union" and that is good, for peace above all. But: try to put together a danish guy and a spanish one, for instance... They are different in almost everything (food, tongue, values, habits etc.) apart blood and feelings: and that is the only important thing, universal respect for human being.
Well, unless they are fat and brainwashed... ahaha
