Hello drush,

well I kinda regret getting the boxed version to be honest...specially with no stickerz...but I do like having the printed manual...and print it myself would probably bring me up close in price to the boxed version....then there's the graphics of the box etc....I work in graphics and I really like the way the abe's handle their vizuals...soooo
I guess that's why....

oh...and...no I'm upgrading from 4.

I always get the boxed version. I love having the manual and I'm kinda partial to having the CDs etc. And because you get the download too when you order the boxed version, there isn't any wait in using the application.

Of course, I could always print stuff out and burn a backups to CDs.... but my time is worth more than the 50 extra bucks or whatever it is to get the printed/box/CDs, etc.

ok now I'm really gonna piss some people off with a whiny question....

but I just have to ask...when you order does ableton not send out an email with tracking # etc...? You can see I worry about my packages never arriving....happened when I was a kid...ordered a little boxed soldier set and it never arrived....never was the same again!

Two responses:

1. The boxed version comes with an additional CD of loops and other content material that is not downloadable, but specifically made for the boxed version. You can decide if that CD and the printed manual is worth the $20 extra or not.

Personally, I like having all the disks and the box because I know if I ever wanted to sell it, I can get a much better price on Ebay if I have the goods and pictures. Of course, I'll never sell Live 5, but the principle is still the same - my goods are worth more down the road with all the marketing/packaging bullshit.

2. I ordered the boxed version on July 23, the day of release. I got my code to unlock Live and Operator in about 1 minute after processing my credit card. I was able to download it and start my audio masturbation. Today, I got another email with a Fed Ex tracking number and a notification of expected delivery. If you don't get this email, please email [email protected] with your order number.

Hope this helps.
