I tried to post about climate change and blame the whole thing on the United States while pretty much ignoring the fact that the world is in this together because i'm too hyper focused on the blame game rather than the actual solution, which i do almost nothing about in reality because i'm to busy typing, but I got told off.

In my experience it's having kids that forces us to grow up and start actually thinking beyond ourselves—no offence to the childless here, but in my experience there is a clear line in the sand that you cross when you have them and there is no going back. You're not truly tested to your limits until you have kids.

As for having too many, yes we definitely need to keep it down to around 2 for the sake of the planet.

But the best way to do that is for everyone to have a better quality of life so that they don't just have kids to support them when they are older, or all the many other reasons for higher birthrates among poorer people. Clearly the fact lower birthrates in wealthy western countries is evidence that people tend to have less children when their quality of life is better, because it's relatively recent. 200 years ago in Europe the birth rates averaged around 8 per woman, mainly because at least 5 were expected to die before the age of 5.
