Well personally at this point I would go with the RME. A friend of mine had an RME once and it sounded amazing. I really don't hear this whole "Duet" sounds better thing.....I don't leave it up to a card to choose how my music sounds. I make it sound better if it needs to be better. The Duet does have some hiccups now and then....I think the quality of RME might be a bit better...

RME all the way. Rock solid performance even on Windows 8 for me. The low latency performance of their USB driver just can't be beaten. I'm probably limited by my monitors and "control room" (basement with craptastic room dimensions) to comment on its pristine sound quality, but I don't doubt that it's truly top notch.
I need a baby sit my boys and work the day job plug-in.
