Who thinks live 9 is a rip off? anyone else?
Re: Who thinks live 9 is a rip off? anyone else?
On a 5 years old iMac, works fine and solid, upgrade from 8 Suite to 9 Suite.
Very happy with the new stuff and content.
The Library is huge so I had to move it to an external FW800 drive.
Everytime L9 starts I have beach ball for some 10 to 20 seconds and then all works fine.
Recently I have tried to move the library back to internal and nothing changed.
I still have to wait.
That is the only micro rant I have.
Otherwise, great.

Contrary to the above statement, I believe Live 9 is still pretty good value.Sibanger wrote:UNSTABLETON![]()
If I could wake up and realize Live 9 was only a bad dream, and the real Live 9 was being released tomorrow ( with only 1 library & no 'cool as fuck browser' that actually is really shit & not cool as fuck at all), and was as stable as the last version of Live 8, I would be happy.
Although I am still getting crashes, it is happening less often, and I hope this will improve further over time.

All I can say is: hours of fun making music every evening. At the moment I am just focusing on (1) learning how to play my keyboard (2) setting up my sound palettes, 128s and templates so that have a nice workflow (3) closing the study door and jamming. What's not to like?

I've had zero crashes with 9. Also, this may not mean much to some people but Ableton is one of the only companies that still prints a nice hard copy of their manual. The packaging, contents, presentation, and accompanying videos are all high quality. I have to admit, I fell for their advertising. Ableton does a good job with the hype. You can't please everyone.

I'm guessing Abes have learned a thing or two from NI. Everytime I see one of their videos, I reach for my credit card without even thinking.joeyfivecents wrote:I've had zero crashes with 9. And I cry to have been "Gold Visa card" banned to have done what you say : without thinking, but not just with audio prod & stuffSibanger wrote:I'm guessing Abes have learned a thing or two from NI. BTW
>>> I like their marketing plan, but don't forget artists who perform without Push, using a computer, lot of Ableton they're now used on a worldwide known and used ... I gave a licence of Live to a 100% "FINALE ONLY" musician who now admits that even for classical production it's usable on set.
And just because I realized that a few seconds ago :
WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO DO PROFESSIONAL (Live or audio material to do) : THE SETUP MUST BE IRON-UNBGGABLE-ROCK-SOLID
So just learn, and do with actual flaws, I don't judge here dudes but I love Komplete as much as Live with "that" difference between both, but shit, Live 9 will be IMHO "acceptable" at its 9.0.5 or 9.1 rev. ; in fact the only companies able to release a "major" one without flaws are Digidesign I mean Avid and Steinberg...
lol
Warm Regards dudes

Re: Who thinks live 9 is a rip off? anyone else?
I'm not sure if it's a rip off... but I'm a little bit disappointed when I think of the total amount I've spent within Live.
Live 7 > Live 8 Suite > Live 8 Suite + Max > Live 9 Suite
Essentially the money I spent buying Max was wasted as this is now bundled with Live 9. Additionally, I'm not hugely impressed with the Suite Instruments and in hindsight, I would rather have spent that money on a suite of VSTs.
I do love the Melody & Harmony to Midi features and the Glue compressor and new Max devices are cool, and I still love the workflow overall. Though recently I watched a video on Logic Comping and started to wonder if it's time to give it a proper look.
Overall... undecided...

Logic, it's the one I didn't work with enough to say something good...
I just was happy with my setup and remember having found a "style" related common thing between Logic and ... FL Studio lol
(shame on me since I use to do some little tricks with FLS and even pay the Signature bundle when it was 10...)
What I just wrote was lame. I really would like to test Logic Studio in-depth...

I was not here but I can say for sure Robert said more or less the same when Live was 8.0.xevon wrote:From the Ableton Team

Live 9.1 should be enough I guess, don't you think ?
