Homeschool. Believe me, the allegiance is not the only brainwashing that goes on in those institutions. My experiences in Swiss schools were equally motivated. We are taught from day one to be "good citizens"; we are taught that Keynes is the only real economist; we are taught that the 20th century was basically just one big Jew hunt; we are taught that legal discrimination is not discrimination if it can be "justified"; we are taught that men are inferior to women; we are taught that nationalism can be a positive force; I could go on... but most if all, we are taught the the current status quo is the only status conceivable.

Whether of not we start the day by pledging an allegiance to Queen Frag is irrelevant. We're all the state's bitch.

I dont know if schools are obligated by the government to impose the pledge, I really cant see the government forcing a school district or a teacher to do the pledge in this day and age.
Forcing some one to do something against their will such as the pledge is almost always met with a hefty lawsuit and they usually win (suing the government for strapping you to a chair and taking your blood is usually thrown out of court or never enters court)
The pledge of allegiance is done pretty sneaky under the title of " tradition". The pledge doesn't mean much to most people ( the meaning behind it does not register with them )so most dont question it.
The ones who do question it and dont agree with it have the right not to take part in it and can refuse to have their kids to take part in it. Why its still going on is due to tradition.
Questions about it have been raised in the courts with some parents wanting it taken out of schools.
I feel that it wont be long until it is permanently taken out of schools.

Ok, I think it is something similar to catholic religion here in Italy years ago, when we little kids had to pray jesus christ every morning at school. I remember well how we (kids) were brainwashed by adults about all this scary crap and once become adults most of them remained conditioned. And so on, generation by generation. The few kids who did not pray were marginalized by "good christian" kids, of course. I think it is the same for the poor american kids with this "pledge of allegiance" brainwashing system. I understand maybe 30-40% of little kids once adults laugh about it (like here 30-40% of adult do about the church holy superstitions), but I think at least 50% become pro-war patriotic americans. And this is a serious problem for the rest of the world, since they don't drop holy water like the bloody priests here, but bombs

On the whole the Ableton Live forum is for users of Ableton Live, a program for making music, to come to talk about the program and other music technology matters, and we have this other forum called "the lounge" where we just chat to each other, usually in a friendly way without trying to make people shit about where they come from or what race they are, apart form the occasional self righteous or obnoxious ones. Over time people get familiar and talk about what they've been up to, what movies they've seen, and so on.

Oh and some of us also have kids, so we see movies that are aimed at kids, and sometimes we see them just because we fucking well want to and aren't all miserable whining self righteous wankers like you.
