Re: Should Myrnova & McOck be banned?
I can see I'm now trailing Myrnova by only one vote. Do you think if I say the N word a few times, I could swing a couple more of you cunts?
Re: Should Myrnova & McOck be banned?
Well, this is a forum, right? Now, one can discuss shitty popstars, movies, bikes, football, etc. Nothing happens. As soon as people talk about war, politics, racism, religion etc. it's becoming a mess. That is why in many forums it is not allowed to talk about religion and politics, and if you do they ban you. This (the lounge) is not the case.krulecello wrote:Myrnova, my view is simply this, that it's very difficult, once a person forms a belief about themselves (through indoctrination or ego) in relation to other people and the world, to truly challenge their perspective (ie, to the point that they start questioning themselves and their motives deeply rather than protecting their ego and reacting).myrnova wrote:
I am talking about McCock something, a real racist, claiming "black people have lower IQ", and such bullshit. He claimed in South Africa the "whites" brought "civilization", he mocked australian aborigines, etc. He is a far-right rich neofascist, very hateful. Elsewhere he would be banned at once. Here is different, becaise he is "pro-USA" (as every fascist nowadays). He is a Hitler fan or smth.
Banning them doesn't help change their views either, it might even, in some cases, simply reinforce them.
I really don't know how to bring about an awareness and / or deeper understanding in others. How to help people to feel as deeply for those that are dying and suffering right now (as a result of 'power / oil / wealth generating' wars and consumer exploitation), as they seem to feel (deeply) about their own nationals who die by the hands of 'terrorists'. In my view, this is cognitive dissonance and needs to be challenged, but at least from my perspective, it seems to be a waste of time to attempt to do so on internet forums, so I'd rather engage my passion / time elsewhere.
Here the mods know well 90% of users are americans. And I guess they know every time you talk about crimes, war, injustice etc. the U.S. are involved and american users get shocked (I guess they are not aware of the fact the rest of the world hates U.S. for their horrible crimes). It happened to me here some years ago for the same reason: because of my opinion about U.S policy. The mods PMd me and told me "sorry, american people are not able to understand what you say", so they banned me.
Now, they banned me NOT because talking about politics here is forbidden. Infact you can. BUT you cannot talk "bad" about U.S. policy. Understand?

I thought myrnova complaining about being banned on KVR for supposedly being anti-american then coming here and being even more anti-american kind of proved your point, that's all.krulecello wrote:There is no irony.Forge. wrote:krulecello wrote: Banning them doesn't help change their views either, it might even, in some cases, simply reinforce them.

What was ironic was that you then supported myrnovas delusional and quite pathetic attempt at trying to claim that everyone just wants him banned because he says things that are "bad about US policy", despite a tradition of threads criticizing US policy for the last 10 years on this forum, plus your arrogant and hypocritical points suggesting the reason people are pissed off with myrnova is really down to their egos or indoctrination and cognitive dissonance that needs to be challenged, as if everyone here is a bunch of fuckwits.
Especially in light of the fact that you responded to my attempts to actually debate the climate change issue with you in the other thread with the kind of moronic pictures of dead children that myrnova uses to shut me up when i challenged you, then yeah I thought it was pretty funny and ironic.

There's even a really massive clue right there in this exact post^myrnova wrote:Now, they banned me NOT because talking about politics here is forbidden. Infact you can. Re: Should Myrnova & McOck be banned?
how about we all start referring to myrnova as a "WOP" or "WOG"?
If someone could explain to me why that's worse than "dumb Yankee" then I'm all ears.

So, you notice that I didn't reply to it, but not for the reason that you are implying here.Forge. wrote:And FFS

I'm not sure I follow, are you meaning that you think I'm implying that you are racist? No, I'm not.krulecello wrote:So, you notice that I didn't reply to it, but not for the reason that you are implying here.Forge. wrote:And FFS

I am pointing out what I thought was obvious in that myrnova clearly is, and you came out with something about not seeing any evidence of hate or something.
Trouble is, I don't get this idea that because the American government is pure evil then all American citizens should be called by racist terms.
By that reasoning you could call Chinese people "chinks" then justify it because of their government's oppression of Tibet.
We just don't need to go there, and myrnova has, not just once but many, many times.
This has FUCK ALL to do with criticizing the US government, as I said we've been doing that on this forum for 10 years.

My original response to myrnova for reference.....(this was response to Myrnovas critique of Jack and suggestion that Jack should be banned)Forge. wrote: I thought myrnova complaining about being banned on KVR for supposedly being anti-american then coming here and being even more anti-american kind of proved your point, that's all.

I don't think banning people is the answer. My last paragraph is very much how I feel, my passion for the world. I don't think any of this makes me a hypocrite, but if you think it does, then I'm comfortable for you to hold that view. (For the record, I don't think you are dumb Forge, quite the opposite.)krulecello. wrote:Myrnova, my view is simply this, that it's very difficult, once a person forms a belief about themselves (through indoctrination or ego) in relation to other people and the world, to truly challenge their perspective (ie, to the point that they start questioning themselves and their motives deeply rather than protecting their ego and reacting).

Hypocrisy is the state of pretending to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that one does not actually have.[1] Hypocrisy involves the deception of others and is thus a kind of lie.[1]
Hypocrisy is not simply failing to practice those virtues that one preaches.

okay, well how it actually sounded was like you were implying that myrnova is in the right and everyone else is in the wrong because the Americans really are arseholes.krulecello wrote:My original response to myrnova for reference.....(this was response to Myrnovas critique of Jack and suggestion that Jack should be banned)Forge. wrote: I thought myrnova complaining about being banned on KVR for supposedly being anti-american then coming here and being even more anti-american kind of proved your point, that's all.

Honestly, as much as anything I'm sticking up for people I consider to be "online friends" on this forum. They don't deserve to be made to feel like shit and guilty for their government's actions any more than we do over the asylum seeker stuff.
For myrnova to lord it over Americans because of their government is just unnecessary and pretty shit, and it seems like our "liberal guilt" or whatever it is is making us all tolerate something which is hard to defend as anything other than just pure old racism.
I actually tried to defend myrnova when some of the other people here were sick of her/his shit and started a thread trying to get her/him banned because I actually think in there somewhere there is probably someone I would find some common ground with in real life, but I'm not sure she/he is that capable of getting it after all this time. I sent some diplomatic PMs trying to be friendly and say that there are real human beings here and not just some amorphous blob of Americana, but the response was pretty much "I don't care, I'll say what I like, I don't need to be friendly with anyone, fuck you all"
Anyway, for the record, like it matters in any way I voted for the joke one, because i don't really want anyone banned, I think all the different people here add colour and under it all are all cool people into music and that.
I just don't want to see any racism or trying to make people feel like shit because of where they come from.
I even threw myself on the grenade with the whole British Empire speech
And thanks for the positive words there, the reason I was offended about the climate change thread is because I likewise don't think of you as dumb.
