this color issue does not in any way shape or form make Push a crap product. it is less than perfect (surprise planet earth) but it is indeed an excellent controller

i changed the colors, i'm happy with the result :D (i would have changed them anyway cuz white is too bright for me)

You could also just dim the white... anyway, I agree. It is not a crap product. All the pads, knobs and other controls feel well made, work well and the design of Push is excellent. The choices of what controls to have is well thought out. Take away the color inconsistencies and I think Push is awesome... and in the end, the color inconsistencies do not make it less useable. Push is a blast to use!

Judging by posted photos, the Push I received is on the bad end of the spectrum as far as color variation on the pads.

I'm referring to the LED's as the "crap product" sorry, not the whole package. I played with mine quite a bit but it is annoying and taking me out of my "ZEN" 8).
I know some people have relatively consistent "white" lights and I would accept one of those - they have decent calibration.

The user colors adjustment through python scripting does help, I do not deny, but as currently shown it gets messed up after each patch so I'd like to see Ableton at least acknowledge that they need to include this ability without messing around in scripts so far they've just shrugged and tried to play it down.

Sorry but I would never accept a fat turdstain i couldnt wash out of a shiny, expensive new drum set. PUSH does need to have a quality standard even when there are workarounds, I'm not going to sit here and defend Ableton and AKAI - they're big boy companies and they let units ship out like this.
I'm just agreeing with others that have ridiculously bad calibration like mine that you should show your displeasure by returning the defective units and then maybe Ableton will understand.

Hey, its cool if you want to do that, but I want to use mine... I'm also in contact with Ableton about the issue.

Unfortunately this is the most likely form of action that will make Ableton sit up and take notice.

Vote with your wallets people, not your fingertips and vitriolic bile. That only gets you ignored.

My best effort at accurate photo reproduction of my default Push colors (forwarded to Ableton)

That pretty much is on par with the discoloration of my Push. Sucks but decided not to return it, and just tweak the colors.

This is a huge problem for me! Damn it. I almost ordered one. Advertising the way ableton does is NOT cool, so don't give in on this (for those with rainbow push). Looks so sleek and perfect in the videos. I'm taking my mac with me to my local music store to test that almost-flawless-push-beast-of-a-controller to see if they have rainbow push or not. I can address this problem quickly in note mode?

you can do a quick test of all the pads in session mode. make a clip and duplicate it 7 times, then duplicate that track 7 times so you have an 8x8 grid of clips. you can then select them all at once and try out the different clip colours.

i'd rather post this here than the other thread since there's no need for duplicates. mods should remove those dupe threads.

Yours must not have it very bad. It's impossible to not notice on the majority of them. This is mine: http://imgur.com/h7ZgYZf
i meant that unless i had read about it, i probably wouldn't have noticed that this was a defect, tbh.

edit: resized image. ffs, it's 2013! ADD A SCRIPT THAT RESIZES IMAGES.

Oh, gotcha. Yeah, at first I also thought the purplish/pink was supposed to be there and meant something.

yeah, that's what i was thinking. but w/e.

honestly, i didn't even discover the push until a few weeks ago and then they happened to have one when i went to an ableton event so i grabbed it. i didn't realize it was super new otherwise i might've waited. if ableton fixes this via warranty repair i might send it in. realistically, i'll probably wait until batches come out without this problem and buy a new one and then sell this one and probably get less for it. i just never really enjoy/trust the warranty repair process with companies. especially when places don't guarantee that they'll send you back YOUR actual device.

when my ps3 had to be repaired (was initial launch version) i sent it in and when i got it back i just sold it and just bought a brand new one. i've had that one ever since with no problems. however, my gfs brother has sent his in about 7 times before he finally caved and bought a new one. it's just not worth the stress and hassle for a free repair (even if you're paying for shipping), imo.

unfortunate about the push though. it's a fantastic, fantastic device.

Don't count on that. They've told everyone who contacts them that it's totally normal and that it's not a warranty issue. All you can do is return it to a retailer. It's this or nothing for now. I'm probably going to keep mine, but I'm going to keep giving Ableton hell over it because of how poorly they've handled the issue. I mean I specifically updated to Live Suite 9 for Push so I was already financially committed to this thing.

Heres my 2nd one. Yes, the colors are pretty accurate to what it looks like in real life, the image has not been enhanced in any way and the pads are VERY noticeable in person, to the point where its confusing to use. Ive loaded a custom skin to help with that issue until i decide what to do with it.

I thought I would add my photo to the collection, I'm quite unhappy about this, not sufficiently though to return it - mainly given how long it's likely to take to get a replacement, and with no guarantee it won't have the same fault

before I do this though, can someone explain how I attach an image please, cheers
