When I relaunch Live, it takes 3 to 5 minutes to open. Restarting my 2011 IMac usually solves the problem, but rebooting my computer everytime to use Live is not ideal.

me this too! :!: I also boot from an SSD.

I am using 32 bit 9.1.1 on a W7 64 bit OS.
My VST's are in C:\VST, **not** default.

I have had ongoing issues with slow start up and performance as well.

Gets hung up on "loading default template" and then "creating new template". Also takes a longer time to exit the app, and I get some spinning beach ball stupidity.

I have found slow startup for me anyway to be caused by certain VST plugins. For instance, Audio Damage Big Seq or 914.dll; Rob Papan Albino 3. There are others. If I pull these out of VST plugin folder and restart PC and Ableton Live starts up fast again every time.

I have also found there renaming "subfolders" in my VST directory causes issues; VSTs that used to load fast don't any longer if I rename their subfolder.

Here is another strange detail; I can install Big Seq or one of the other make-ableton-stupid VSTs to default folder (not my custom C:\VST) and it **still** makes Ableton Live stupid. So I figure Ableton must be scanning that folder too (something like program files x86\steinberg\vstplugins) even though any in there isn't visible in "plugins" in the app.

This most-definitely feels like a bug to me; I imagine it has something to do with the way AL inventories VST's when it starts up.

I upgraded from AL7 which didn't have these issues.

UPDATE. I have been working on trying to fix the slow startup all weekend!

I am not sure why but now it seems like Ableton is slow to start up and slow in general EXCEPT when I restart my PC (W7, 64bit.)

updated to 9.1.2 > no help/no change
Moved VSTs to default folder (program files (x86)/steinberg/vstplugins > no help.

The program is so slow when it hits slow/stupid mode I can't really use it--its not just slow starting up. It's slow period.

I launched a case with Ableton support….will update this forum entry if I can fix this!
