MIDI assign crossfader A/B (APC40)
MIDI assign crossfader A/B (APC40)
I'm working on a DJ template for the APC40 (although I'm sure this is applicable to other controllers as well).
I have all my tracks as individual channels, and I page through them using the APC40. My mappings are pretty standard at the moment; I'm keeping all the native functionality for the most part.
If you attempt to MIDI map a track's crossfader assignment, Live toggles through the three states, A, B, & none. There are two problems with this:
1. The APC40 doesn't provide visual feedback that tells me the crossfader assignment. Hitting the button once toggles the light on, but the light is off for the other 2 states so there is no way to tell which one is active.
2. Manually mapping doesn't retain the dynamic track control I need to navigate through my tracks. In other words, when I navigate using the APC's arrow keys to control another track, the crossfader assign button is locked to whichever track I initially mapped it to.
I would like to remap the solo button to assign to A, and the record button to assign to B while retaining the APC's ability to intuitively control whichever track I've selected, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do this without hacking a remote script (which I've had no luck with so far).
Any ideas?

Re: MIDI assign crossfader A/B (APC40)
Forgot to mention I also recently got a Push so I could use that instead if it ends up being easier, but I've ran into the same problems with that as with the APC40.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: MIDI assign crossfader A/B (APC40)
I did some research into hacking w/ M4L, but the tutorials I saw seemed more geared towards completely modifying the behavior of the APC. I'd like to preserve the default behavior and only override the solo and record buttons, but I can't find a straightforward way to do this.
Re: MIDI assign crossfader A/B (APC40)
You need to disable the standard functionality of the buttons by locating them as controls and sending them an Id 0 message, then observe the buttons and hook them upto changing the cross fader options....
Send me an email at [email protected] and I'll send you a device to help you on the way with disabling....
