How to disable the auto-record enable?

So everybody knows that when selecting a track with a software instrument the record button turns light red and you can play the instrument. Problem with that is you get super loud audio clicks when switching to other tracks. How the hell do we disable that 'feature'?

I don't have that problem here… Just a guess, have you tried raising your audio buffer in preferences/audio?
