Ableton Packs Question

Post by wondercracka » Thu Jul 25, 2013 10:19 pm

Hey guys I'm new to Ableton and was wondering what packs best works for electronic music. I'll mainly be focusing on trance and house.

Thanks.

To be totally honest I don't think Ableton's packs are all that great. I LOVE Live to death and use it everyday but they're sample packs are weak as hell!
I'd look elsewhere if I were you. But thats just my humble opinion.

Like look elsewhere for packs or go for a different program?

No I just meant packs! Ableton Live is amazing. I was just talking about sample packs. Of course, that's just my opinion. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who love the packs but when compared to something like Native instruments' Maschine sample packs, Ableton's are really weak.

There are literally a million options out there for samples. I guess if you're new to Live then maybe you could try some Ableton packs.
You get a ton of them for free when you buy Live 9. What version are you using?

try loopmasters.com or something, they have plenty of sample packs that you can preview. Personally I have never had a problem with the packs that ableton offers and I use their sounds to customize different instruments regularly

I have Live Suite 9. I just don't know where to start for packs. If you have recommendations for other packs I'll gladly take it into consideration.

You are new to Live and you own Suite? I'd say forget about additional packs until you really know what you already own (which is amazing!) and how to tweak it to your taste. When you know exactly what you own you also know what is missing for you and then you can watch out for packs with specific sounds.
Live 9.5 (64bit), Max 7.0.6, Windows 10, Push 2, Korg electribe2, Bass Station II, Launch Control XL, Faderfox DJ3

I would start with the packs delivered with Live9 Suite.
At all you paid for them and therefore it is always worth to look at.
There are a lot of good and a lot of very special loops in the pack.
Some are solala. But thats always with all looppacks.

And there are so many free packs to look at.
