Possible to use push to skank midi chords with one pad?
Possible to use push to skank midi chords with one pad?
i use only midi hw -- no plugins, live instruments or live audio effects
i do not yet have push.
is it possible to setup push to send chords when i push a single pad? how would one do this?
I did try searching and didn't see an answer.
(trying to figure out if I got push if i could ditch the keyboard)

Not in Push... but you can use a plug-in called Cthulhu and then send its output to your hardware

Re: Possible to use push to skank midi chords with one pad?
I don't know if this is relevant (My Push arrives on Monday), but I've been using Launchpad95 to emulate push, and it is very easy to play chords and inversion using chord forms; the limitation being that there are no accidentals within a Key (which means your stuck with C major/A natural minor, but can't play a G# to get the third of the VI (in major Em chord) to make it V7 (E7)of the harmonic minor. You can go from C major to Am, but then you lose the tonic orientation of the original key if the transition is only temporary.
I won't know for sure until I can play with push (there may be a workaround short of completely changing the pad configuration)......
But for the basics, Push handles triads and things you can play for a given scale easily (much better than a keyboard with one hand) as long as you're not worried about accidentals.
Maybe there is a way to split the input so one could have a keyboard for chords with the left and a Push with the right.... without using two tracks.... I'm thinking on it, and am still not sure it makes any sense....

If I understand yo correctly and to ease your thinking, it works just fine. I can play chords with my left hand on Kronos while I'm doing melody's with my right hand on PUSH. Both playing the same patch.. No setup involved.Buleriachk wrote: Maybe there is a way to split the input so one could have a keyboard for chords with the left and a Push with the right.... without using two tracks.... How do you set the MIDI input to the track? That is, if MIDI in is set to Kronos, how is the Push input configured? (Or do you use two tracks with the same patch?)

If you leave your controller and Push set to "All Ins" you can play both to any patch or instrument you load and record it all to one track.
I just did it with Omnisphere loaded. Push, Kronos and Omni All Ins. Played Kronos left hand, lead on Push and recorded to the Omni track.

Not silly at all. What's very cool is in the Arrange, with Push set to Push and your controller to any instrument or plug, you can record a nice mixer of what ever.. Of course individual tracks.

push note -> midi track -> cthulhu converts c3 to chord ABC -> midi out? or do the chords get recorded in the clip?
also, now i wonder--does push allow for realtime transpose of clips?
i'm guessing not
