Any ideas on how to use M4L to pull status information from a Live looper effect and distribute it out to an external device via midi or OSC....such as to a Lemur?
I have created a great Lemur template for controlling a Live Set which houses an array of loopers. I have each looper effect's multi-button mapped to the Lemur template.....and it works a treat....using the Lemur (with Live in the background) as perhaps the ultimate real time looping device. Its better than a Looperlative or other hardware devices.....as many as 24 tracks, control over input and output effects, etc. What makes it so amazing is the "hands/eyes-off" the computer approach. I can focus on the Lemur, and work a whole performance from there. The ONLY thing that's missing is some level of visual feedback on the lemur as to the status of the individual looper effects. I.E.: Are they in play/rec/o-dub/stop modes? It doesn't appear that the looper effect, on its own, sends any midi information when those modes are toggled in sequence with the multi button. But I was wondering if there might be a way to use M4l as an interface between the Loopers and Lemur to send that information.
Any thoughts?
Live's looper effect sending feedback out to Lemur
Re: Live's looper effect sending feedback out to Lemur
Hi RonF
I already have a MIDI Looper visualiser code, see below.
It shows the status of a Looper as a big colourful square (I have this showing on my screen so I can just flick my eyes over and see the status while playing live).
Perhaps you can edit the M4L code so that it sends out midi data depending on the status (instaed of just updating the colours). At the moment the code points to 3 loopers on a Return tracks - that would also need to be updated for your use.
Use Makenote object - let me know if oyu need help.
Code below, create new MIDI device. Paste in code. Save device

Re: Live's looper effect sending feedback out to Lemur
This is an awesome start! Thank you so much. I will play around with it, and get back if I run into questions or roadblocks. Thanks again!
Re: Live's looper effect sending feedback out to Lemur
Hello!
I'm looking for the exact thing as well! Visual feedback on Lemur. Or on any device actually. And I really understand the frustration when you see the perfect livelooper setup but only miss one small detail
Did you find any solution?
cheers!

Re: Live's looper effect sending feedback out to Lemur
Unfortunately no. I have resolved to just leaving my computer screen as the "visual feedback". I set my Live template to respond to Lemur, so that each Looper 'track' jumps into view when selected on the Lemur. I would in fact be MUCH sweeter if the visual feedback as to the Looper status (rec/play/odub/stop) was reflected with color or text on the Lemur. But its beyond my time or patience to make it happen, if its even possible!
