Electro funk w/ female vocals

Post by TmanRocksTheBoat » Sun Jul 21, 2013 4:04 pm

Hey everyone,

Here's another track from FastTwitch! This was a Daft Punk-inspired track after their latest album, but I was LUCKY enough to get a female friend of mine to lay down some vocals.

Tell me what you think, and as always, feedback is always appreciated!

Anyone picking up on that 'Random Access Memory' feel?

What are some tips on getting the vocals to come through during the chorus section? I'm fairly new to adding vocals into a mix, and EQing in general. I EQed a little bit using EQ 8, but if anyone has some more tips and tricks, I'd love to hear some different ways people tweak their sounds.

Thanks!

Nice vibe you got going on! Vocals need to be a little louder. At 1min the new synth that comes in is too loud. It actually made me jump a bit. Ahahah.

This is not poorly mixed at all. It could use some more careful eq'ing though. One thing to do with an eq on vocals is add some brightness from 10khz up. If that's not enough, add some presence from 5khz to 10khz. Remember to roll off the lows as you won't need that.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and give some feedback. I was going for a big hit to take you by surprise at the 1min mark, not startling though haha! I'll see what I can do to make that a little less jumpy. I'll try some of those EQ tweaks on the vocals. This was a project with a friend and I, and we have more coming so I want to make sure I make her vocals come out over the music.
