Controlling effects on individual drum pads

Hi all, quick question..

I can browse and add an effect to a drum pad, then it maps to the 8 encoders along the top on push. Problem is when I move away and come back to it I cant seem to get push to see it, without using the keyboard and mouse to manually select it.

No mouse or keyboard needed, you just have to be in device mode and at the right position in the chain. Try the following:

- press Add Track and choose Drum Rack - Core Library - Kit...606
- press Browse to leave the browser, notice that you now are in Device mode
- press the button below Kick 606 to select the rack with the kick
- press Add Effect and choose Amp, it will be placed to the right of the kick rack
- press Browse to leave the browser, your in device mode and Amp is selected, you can adjust it's parameters with the knobs
- press Track, switch to another track and back to the drum rack track
- press Device, you see that Kick 606 is selected, no Amp in view
- press In (the arrow right to the Master button), now you can see the Amp, select it and you can adjust it's parameter

In and Out buttons are your friends to dive into a device chain and out of it.

I'm not sure about that one (can't check at the moment), maybe when you expand the chain list? But maybe it's not possible and to pan a single sound you either would have to macro map the pans of the chains or you just put a Utility device into the chain with the sound.

Expanding the chain I don't see anyway to pan, but I'm okay with mousing here and there. Thanks.

It is possible to pan each drumpad individually. Here is how I do it (I hope this is what you meant):

Select the drumrack track
Press "Device"
Press the pad of whichever drumpad you want to pan
Press the Enter Arrow (pointing right to go deeper into the chain) twice
Choose PtchMdfr (usually 4th amber button choice to the right)
PAN should be an available parameter for just this drumpad, along with Glidetime, Spread, and volume, the latter always being available anyways.

Odd that they did not include Pan along with one other possible parameter on the second level of the selected drumpad - there's room for two more parameters. Also - the Filter category within each drumpad is turned off by default. I recommend saving your drumracks with these enabled for each chain for more tweakability of each individual drumhit.

Just to clarify for everyone (took me a second to work this wonderful advice out), this method work if your drum rack consists of Simpler's, not Sampler's. The pan setting for Sampler is in the Volume tab, which is not one of the 8 displayed parameters when you enter a couple levels down.

I made a couple custom kits with sampler and was trying to apply your advice. Changed em to Simpler's and now all is groovy.
