Live4 + Guitar (noob)

Hello.

Does anyone have any tips for making guitar riff loops? Mine never seem to sound just right... all I have is Audacity and Live. How can I fine tune the beginning and end of the loops?

Ok... so I started bouncing from the recording to another audio track, so cut silence off and whatnot, but is there a way to stop the recording exactly when the playing track stops? Thanks in advance.

if you operate Live with your hands, then you'll have troubles starting the recording and playing your guitar accurately (unless you use your feet).

so if the real-time factor is not too important for you (if you do it "at home", not live), you can start the recording, play your riff several times while a clip is recording in session view (this can be found in the manual).
when you know one of the takes was ok, just set the loop so that it loops only on the part you're happy with.

if some parts you recorded are not very accurate but you want to keep them, you can do little adjustments using the warp markers (see manual).

hope this helps. if you're really into this kind of "looping performance", a midi foot controller (such as behringer's FCB1010) might be a good investment.
