Touch Strip center position off?

Post by Lancer X » Tue Aug 20, 2013 12:21 am

Is there a way to calibrate the center position of the touch strip?

I've been frustrated trying to use the strip for playing in expressive pitch bends, because I can't easily find the "in tune" center position. The exact center position on my Push is somewhat under the bottom of the two amber "center indicator" lights.

If it were up to me, I would prefer a half-inch dead zone in the middle of the strip that allows you to get back in tune. The extreme top and bottom of the strip seems to be in tune when set to a +/- 12 bend range.

Appreciation for any help!

On my push, center seems to be in the middle of the 2 amber lights. Where is it that you are adjusting the bend?

For example, let's say I want to start with the played note, bend up an octave, and then bend back down to the played note. I first need to touch the center of the strip, which is not exactly in tune. Then, I need to bring the bend back down to center position (the played note), and that spot between the amber lights isn't precisely in tune.

On my Push, Pitchbend center is slightly above the top of the two dots. But once I learned that, I have no trouble finding center. I may make a tiny white dot at the true center spot, but then I already just use that as the center without thinking about it.

The very top and bottom are accurately +/-12...

My touch strip "center" is also above the middle of the strip (and, consequently, the amber leds). It definitely fires up my inner OCD. It also makes things a tiny bit more challenging as I cannot just aim for the lights when executing a pitch bend from zero.

I have also encountered strange behavior regarding actual bend range that does not correspond with the range specified by the patch. For instance: I set the patch bend range to one octave then play a note and bend up from zero and it bends up only two semitones. However, if I touch the strip at the top first and then play a note it will be an octave high and I can bend down and back up from there. Most of the time this doesn't happen (thankfully). Not sure if this has anything to do with the strip calibration.

Booting up Push pan always shows 2 bars at the Centre position and I have to pan to the L to get it to a single LED bar.
Not a huge issue but not great either...any way to deal with this?
