Sound on Pads but not on Keys

Hello Forum,
I purchased a Noviation Impulse 25 with Ableton live lite. If all goes well I plan to upgrade to standard Ableton later. I actually purchased the upgrade but have not opened it yet.

My Issue, I loaded a sample into Ableton that I previously created in audacity and had saved on my PC. I can play the sample in Ableton and on the pads of the I25, but only by using clip launch. I want to play the samples using the keys. I checked all octaves but none trigger my sample. I spoke with tech support over at Noviation but no help. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Load the instrument "Simpler", then drag the sample inside of the instance of that instrument.

Or, create a new 'MIDI' track, and drag the sample into it (I'm pretty sure that this works, it is supposed to automatically place the sample into an instance of Simpler).

Then make sure that the track is Armed. It is a red button below the Solo button.

You should be able to tap your keys and hear sounds.

Thanks for the reply. I loaded simpler but it would not let me drop my file into instance. When I try to drop my sample into a midi track, it automatically changes it to audio. Tech support at Noviation had me download midi-ox into the Impulse 25 but still no joy.

For reference, the pads and keys work using internal Ableton instruments.

Thanks Yur2die4. With your suggestion I kept working with 'Simpler' and eventually 'Impulse' and was able to drop multible samples into the field at the bottom and play them on the Impulse 25 keyboard. Good to go now.
