Buggy Clip Start/End with PUSH

Post by weswook » Sun Aug 25, 2013 8:24 am

I am having problems with clip start & clip end on PUSH in clip mode. Oddly enough when I tap shift and twist the start or end knobs it helps, but otherwise twisting the knobs do nothing. When I adjust the bracket in Live it communicates the changes to PUSH. Odd. Anybody else have problems with this?

I can't find anything particularly odd in that behaviour. Positions have the format bars.beats.sixteenths. From Push you can adjust bars (just turn the knobs) or beats (hold Shift + turn knobs). Therefore, if you only have a one bar clip turning the start/end knobs without holding Shift will do nothing.

But there is definitly room for improvements, like:

- allow fine adjustment from Push (sixteenths, milliseconds)
- unwarped audio clips are displayed as minutes.seconds.milliseconds in Live but not on Push
- turning warp on/off from Push for audio clips

The last two belong to the topic audio tracks and I guess we'll see major improvements there in the future anyway.

Make sure you have loop turned off on the clip display on Push, then you can edit the clip start and end parameters.

thanks very much. Something simple, but very useful, learnt every day.

Also - very strange that when in midi clip editing mode - there are 4 "slots" unused on the display. Surely they could add more tweakability here? For example, and I need to do this a quite often, transpose the clip up or down.

@Because789 Thanks for the response, you are absolutely right with your start adjustment instructions. It wouldn't seem odd if the clip was one bar, but a 32 bar clip where the start won't adjust without shift is odd to me. I have changed the time signature and that impacts how the start and end brackets move, but I'm still only getting movement when I rapid tap shift. I have also toggled the loop on and off thinking that might have some impact. It is what it is, just wanted to throw it out there to see if someone else was having the problem.
