Non-global MIDI mapping in Live

Post by AaronYeo » Wed Aug 28, 2013 7:07 am

So I want to have these two faders on my controller control two parameters for whatever instrument/VST I'm currently playing.

So far my method has worked so far: by using the VST's built-in MIDI Map functionality, I can have the faders control ONLY the track that is armed.

Egs: I can play a bass patch and use the faders to control cutoff and LFO, then when I switch to my lead synth, the faders now control attack and delay, WITHOUT affecting the bass patch.

It works fine, but for this one piano VST I want to set the fader to control a MIDI effect, namely pitch. If I try and map it though, since it's a Live-native effect, it maps globally, and now the fader controls it ALL the time, instead of only when its armed.

Are there any 3rd party MIDI effects that I can use? Or some sort of workaround/loophole in the Live architecture? If the APC auto-maps encoders to rack knobs... then there must be a way, right?

HALP :)

Custom Controller Script is your friend (+VSTs in Racks):
