Previewing loops is a lot less responsive in Live 5...

Post by eldar » Sat Jul 30, 2005 10:37 pm

In Live 4 i could click a loop in the browser to preview just milliseconds before the start of a new bar and the loop would start right on time with the next bar.
In Live 5 i have to click a loop in the browser about half a bar before the start of a new one to have it start in time.
Anyone else got this problem?

previewing in quantised according to your global quantisation setting. maybe this is the cause?

I think the main reason is the time needed for decoding the file in the cache folder...

quantisation is "1 bar", same setting in Live 4

the loops are pure wave files, nothing to decode there
stretch mode is "beats", again same in Live 4

i really hope the responsiveness of Live 4 get restored...

Same problem here.

Also previewed samples sound like they have the "fade" switch applied to them which dulls any percussive sounds you may be browsing :(

not good

Okay,

A bump on this one.

Was messing around with my DJ set using Live 4 last night (Just got a EMU 1616m and it had been set up by the music suppliers within Live 4).

A large part of my set involves flicking the loop marker back and forth within the clip of the track using the CTRL and the up and down arrows - usually 1 or 2 bars at a time.

This works perfectly in Live 4.

I've just loaded Live 5 on my laptop (Top spec laptop DAW - set up by specialist music company) and the same lagging problems are there.

This makes it totally unworkable and is incredibly frustrating.

This is a BUG !

Live 5 is absolutely awesome, but this is a major problem that needs sorting NOW - Come on Abes, get this sorted.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE :-)

I noticed this, but I will take it in replace for the new search function. Exactly what live needed. Over the years I have built up about 60 gigs of samples. NOt very organized. Now I can just search and pull up all my vox samples or whatever. This has increased my/your creativity level...NO doubt. I read in the manual that live indexes your drives for the first search and this slows it down. Maybe this has some thing to do with the slow preview.

Just started working on a track in 'arrange' window and having similar problem on playback if I use the cursor to picka playback point.

The audio loops once (seems to be based on global quantise) before playing on.

This is a surely a Bug.

It's making Live 5 unusable to me.

Having to go back to 4.
