Slice to midi question - Macro control of individual slices.

Post by Dan Dare » Tue Sep 03, 2013 1:42 pm

Hi, I'm trying to make a slice to midi preset that would allow me to change the filter of each slice independent of each other from a macro. Once sliced it seems to effect all the slices globally.

In other words, I want to hit a pad on the mpd which will select the slice, then adjust the macro controls but have different settings for each slice.

I can't seem to get it to work, anyone got any tips?

Thanks so much!

you'd have to hit the pad, which selects the slice and then navigate to the right (using arrow keys?) to select the rack within that cell, and THEN you would be able to adjust macros.. so I believe it would be a lot of quickly jumping into the selected cell

Live 9 has a new feature on drum racks that automatically 'grabs' the last instrument you trigger in Drum Racks.

When I say 'grabs', I am talking about a blue hand.

This blue hand appears on the title bar. It is related to Surface Control and scripts for macros and stuff.

When the blue hand is on that device, you can control its parameters. I'm not sure exactly how you'd try to get very specific parameters to be instantly controlled, but you control the main device.

To turn this feature on/off, there is a toggle button on the bottom left of the drum rack I think.

Thank you both for your help, the Auto Select works great but I still need the macros to control sampler independent for each slice, a separate sound for each pad.

I have made a slice preset with some of samplers parameters mapped to a macros in the Drum Rack, filter, volume, pitch etc..

What I want is to slice up a sample using this preset and use the MPD32 to tune the sample. For instance hit pad 1 adjust the filter, hit pad 2 adjust volume, but independent of each other. At the moment it seems the parameters change across all the slices globally. I change filter for slice 1 it changes the filter of slice 2 as well.

Any thoughts, I must be missing something here. Thanks!

The slicing preset determines the macros that are mapped to the parent drum rack, you'll probably want those to be cleared and just have macro's mapped on the device in each cell instead.

Not sure if you'll be able to achieve this via a slicing preset, I think you may have to set it up manually each time
