USB Audio controller / Rane Sixty-two mixer

Post by isoh619 » Wed Sep 04, 2013 3:59 pm

First time user here and I do apologize for a newb question in advance.. I have Ableton Live 9 standard with a MacBook pro and an Akai APC40 controller. After reviewing the "Getting Started" tutorials on Ableton's site one of the videos mentioned using a USB Audio controller. The one in the video looks to be a Focusrite brand.. My question is does it have to be a USB audio controller? What are some alternatives? I have a Rane Sixty-Two mixer, would this be able to act as an "Audio controller"? Please advise and thanks in advance!

Controller is the wrong word. The correct one would be interface. They are USB audio interfaces.

Yes, a Rane Sixty Two contains a 20 channel USB audio interface.
