Live 8 instruments in Live 9?
Live 8 instruments in Live 9?
Okay so I have a problem. I went from live 8.3.4 32 bit to 9.0.4 64 bit and sense then, the arpeggiator hasn't worked the same for me. Here are small samples of the problem:
https://soundcloud.com/aspen-mallery/ab ... -3-3-arpeg
https://soundcloud.com/aspen-mallery/ab ... -0-1-arpeg
I have both of the versions of ableton installed in different directories just so I can work on an old track, but I was wondering if its possible to get the 8.3.4 arpeggiator running through 9.0.4. I know you can install the old 8.3.4 packs into live 9 but I think that would overwrite the live 9 instruments and I want to have BOTH versions of the instruments available to use. I would normally not care about this minor setback, but a lot of new VST's I've installed are for x64 ( live 9 not 8 ), and it would be nice to add some extra sound to the old track.
Ideas?

Re: Live 8 instruments in Live 9?
i don't know if this is of any help, but it will at least bump the thread...
i'm not in front of a computer with Live installed right now, but i seem to remember a few of the effects having changes that improved their functionality. so, some of the settings default to new states.
can you open the set on a computer with 8 installed and check all the settings?
it could be something simple...
good luck.

I can open the set in version 8 and everything runs fine. live 9 handles everything besides the arpeggiator just like normal. I dont see a single change in the arpeg settings, it just sounds different, almost like its doing the same thing but the interval is off or something.H20nly wrote:i don't know if this is of any help, but it will at least bump the thread...

I'd try to update to 9.0.5:
"Bugfixes: The Arpeggiator device could play too many notes under certain conditions."

Re: Live 8 instruments in Live 9?
i am also having a problem with the arpeggiator in live 9. after upgrading to live 9.05 i noticed that some of it was fixed, but it is still not the same as in live 8. i have several projects i moved over from live 8 to live 9, and i have to refix a lot of the settings. is there any fix on the way for this? 9.05 has not fixed it entirely..

We don't know until the next beta is up or someone reports what the Ableton support has to say about it. They certainly will fix it if there's something to fix for them and if they know under which conditions the problems occur. To speed things up it's usually a good idea to provide them a guide on how to reproduce the issue. To narrow the problem you could try something like this:djesa wrote:is there any fix on the way for this? 9.05 has not fixed it entirely..
- open one of the sets in Live 8, delete every 3rd party plugin (on the track with the Arpeggiator you might have to relpace it with a native instrument), save it under a new name and check in Live 9
- open one of the sets in Live 8, delete every track (incl. return tracks) except the problematic one with the Arpeggiator on, save it under a new name and check in Live 9
Or in short, try to get to the smallest possible Live set where the problem still occurs and send the whole set to support with some notes on how to reproduce the issue.
(Or do what I did and finish your Live 8 projects in Live 8 and only move to Live 9 for new projects)

Re: Live 8 instruments in Live 9?
from what I know FOR SURE:
arpeggiator doesn't function the same way if you use live 32-bits or live 64-bits.
Extra notes can occurs in 64-bits at the release of the notes in a sequence.
live 8 or live 9, same behavior about this.
Now I don't know if it is related with your problem.
they are working on it as I've been told the 64-bits behavior is the right one to expect

Re: Live 8 instruments in Live 9?
I had issues with the Arp right away, posted a thread about it and had some back and forth with support. they claimed it was fixed in 9.05. I hadn't fully investigated. Best way to compare the different versions results - remove everything from the track but the arp, and record the output on another midi track. It will record the Arp's note output and you can compare the notes recorded to see the difference.
