Has Live 9 been rewritten from ground up?

Post by juanpablo1313 » Thu Sep 05, 2013 3:13 am

hello all.

I remember, years ago, hearing that Live couldn't have clip automation because that would require "a complete rewrite of the code from the ground up". We have clip automation in Live 9 now. And will have soon dual-monitor support, another long requested feature that no one knew why it was absent. And maybe PDC if rumors are true.

So abes, did you guys finally re-wrote the code in Live 9? that's why it took so long? that's why now, in 9, you guys are finally implementing long-time requested features?

I'm interested because... of reasons :D but if it's true, I think that it's a pretty big deal.

I had read somewhere in an industry rag recently that the core audio engine had been rewritten in PERL using an Imageline SDK and the GUI was basically dwveloped with Wordpress with a goal of keeping the code port and appearance as transparent as possible. Other than a weird bug that keeps trying to put my mixes on Twitter w/out my permission, I haven't really notice any difference personally. :|
