Ableton Push isnt't communication with Live 9

Hi there,

I just received my Ableton Push and I cannot get it to function. I turn it on, connect it with the USB and get the following message on the LED:

Ableton Push
Please start Live to play...

So, I start Live 9 (I am using the demo version as I have yet to upgrade from 7) and nothing happens with Push. All the buttons remain dark and only the LED message remains... indicating the same thing.

I have looked at the preferences and can choose Push in the midi devices - but nothing changes.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Not so Plug and Play as far as I'm concerned.

I am using a Macbook Pro OX 10.6.7

I have also tried different USB cables.

In Preferences Devices, make sure that Push is selected and Ableton Push Live Port, NOT Ableton Push User Port.
Reboot everything. Don't select anything in Midi Ports.

I'm having this same prob still unresolved. I do not see "devices" under preferences. Only thing like that I see under pref is MIDI Sync and I can select push from drop down menu but cant select input and under output only option is microsoft gs wavetable synth. I do not see anywhere Ableton Push Live Port. What am I doing wrong. Also irritated at a $600 brick that is supposed to fire right up

You're probably not using the right version of live. I don't know if it works in Live demo. Why don't you download live intro. That will probably solve all of your problems.

try another usb port. turns out the push only likes the lower usb ports on my pc that was the prob...odd
