Live 5 Volume-Curios-USB - Record Problems

Post by Dominik » Tue Jul 26, 2005 5:24 pm

I put this Topic again here. Bevore I was in the Live 5 Forum. Nobody interest?

Hi Alex,
here more Details.

Whats happend when I send a Instrument Track to an Audio Track? Why is the Incoming Signal a bit lower?

For Example. This is the same in Live 4 and 5. You put one Instrument like Simpler (for example) in Midi-Track Nr. 10 then you play a Sound.Normaly the Default Configuration is Master Output. Now I want to record this indentical to an Audio-Track. So I go out from Miditrack Nr. 10 to Audiotrack Nr.9. I make the Routing. Miditrack Nr. 10,out to Audiotrack Nr. 9. In Audio Nr 9,(Input Midi 10) I enable the Monitorbutton and I get the Signal from Track 10. Now I like to have the same Track Volume. For example the Track Volume is for Miditrack 10, -15.8 dB.After the routing to Audiotrack 9, I make the same Value, -15.8dB in Audiotrack 9. I expect to listen the same. But the Signal is lower. So I have to mix it again. I got this curios thing also with Record enable and resample but this thing seems to be just just happend from Instrumenttracks to Audiotracks. It also seems that resample is more lower than direkt in. That mean I don't have the same Value and I have to mix it again.

Also I can not record from SPDiF. There is no Peak.

I have an USB Device.USBPRE from Sound Devices. It has also SPDIF I/O and sometimes I like to record something from my Mac. In Live 4 everything work fine with the Connection. I can route the Signal to an Audiotrack, Input 1/2. I enable SPDIF in USBPRE and I can record. In Live 5 there is nothing happend. In Live 4 I can record also Analog from the Device. In Live 5 this makes Problems. Nothing happend even with analog Signal. It seems to be a driver conflict. Asio designed a extra driver for the USBPRE.I hope that you can find a Solution. Thanx a lot

hi Dominik,

unfortunately I'm not able to find something uncommon. what I've done

1) create one midi track #1 containing an instrument
2) create an audio track #2
3) route output of #1 to #2
4) switch monitor on in #2

If I now arm the midi track #1 and play some notes, the signal is the same in amplitude in the meter of #1 and #2. If a reduce the volume in #1, the audio level also reduces in #2 and that's exactly what should happen.

perhaps you can send me directly a zipped live set that is as small as possible that demonstrates what you think is wrong?

thank you for your help,
best,

matthias

Hi Matthias,

The record Problem is gone some days ago. Don't ask me how. Maybe because I trashed my Preferences.Do you found something about the Volume thing? Thanks Dominik
