Technical Issues in Ableton Live 8

Post by V93 » Mon Sep 16, 2013 1:30 am

Recently I have become interested in the setup of live performmance, but there are a variety of technical issues that I need to be able to figure out in Ableton:

1) First off, the most frequent and noticeable problem is I will be playing a song in arrangement view and the audio seemingly at random begins to scratch, distort or skip. This problem also occurs in session view. To fix it I have to turn the CPU meter off and back on again. The meter doesn't have to be high, it can happen at any level of usage.

2) The second problem, and possibly the most frustrating, is when I adjust the pitch of a track or want a pitch bend at the end of a synth line for example, the pitch of the entire track will change pitch, rendering the audio virtually unlistenable. This would be highly problematic in a live setting.

3) Finally, the last issue, although less obvious, could still pose problems. I notice that with a very low bass line for example, in the live set there appears to be a low audible ringing. However, once I render the track to a wav file, the ringing is gone.

I'm sorry for the length of my post, I have been working with Ableton for under a year now and hoping to get some insights on these issues. Any suggestions/explanations would be much appreciated!

1.) problem could be because of streaming off the same hdd live is running off of and/or your audio interface is bad/damaged.

2.) usually if you run a pitch bend while one channel is selected then the pitch bend will only occur on that channel. check you don't have your pitch bend wheel mapped simultaneously to other instruments/tracks in the same project.

3.) weird. i don't know. audio samples?
