So now you're saying that Trotsky's theory has been invalidated by technology. I guess all sciences evolve...Did they have computers in Trotsky's day?

Re: "Marxists are clueless" (Funk N. Furter)
If that's the case, then why did you ask if they had computers in Trotsky's day? The implication is that in Trotsky's day, A did not equal A, but now, thanks to Steve Ballmer, who invented the PC, A can now in fact equal A, as the good Lord had originally intended. If this is not what you implied, then please do clarify. Come now, don't be shy!Funk N. The fundamentals of logic are universal, not contextual. If A=!A was actually made possible in the USSR, then I guess I haven't given those commies enough credit.Funk N. Furter wrote:Trotsky was writing about the nature of the USSR. Are you incapable of understanding that? I just posted you a big quote. You are so stupid you stare at a juice carton because it says "concentrate".
Of course, had Trotsky had the most basic understanding of Gottlob Frege's Über Sinn Und Bedeutung, he never would have said anthing so blatantly stupid. It is quite clear, when Mr. Fucking Genius asks us to observe each letter closely, that he's confusing the referencer with the referenced.
But you've tried this line of reasoning before. When Marx defines value as objective, he can't then switch definition the minute he's down the pub. It doesn't matter how much booze he's downed as co-president of the Trier Tavern Club drinking society, value is value, and A is A.
The more I read about Marx, the more I see a lot of you in him:
1. Alcoholic.
2. Fiercely irrational.
3. Professional failure in later life.
4. Enjoyed writing about concepts he didn't understand.

Re: "Marxists are clueless" (Funk N. Furter)
UPDATED:
So far, we have:
- Marxism is a science
- History is a science
- Revolution is a science (that's tested everyday)
- Theories are values of variables
- We can't test common descent, but it's a science done by scientists who don't fart into cups
- Over the past 30 years, all states have been abolished
- Marxists are clueless
- A=!A (but only in the USSR!)
- (A=!A)?(A?A)
- Nothing exists
- To deny that something is a science is to assert its falsehood
- People who disagree with the Plan should be sent to "farms"
- The Himalayas will be ice-free by 2035, due to an increase in melting rate by a factor of 6
- Bush Jr. was more honourable than Yobama
- Technology produced by Capitalism disproved Trotsky, who produced nothing
- And of course the classic: "Value is objective (but only in capitalist societies!)"

What makes you think I am any way a Randian? ARE YOU STRAW-MANNING OFF-TOPIC AGAIN?!Funk N. Furter wrote:With all due respect Steve, this is all complete and utter bollocks. You are not only a troll incapable of understanding what a 12 year old could understand, you are extremely deluded.
I would explain it to you but it's totally impossible. If Ayn Rand told you pigs can fly you would be proving it in every post.
I guess this at least allows you to dodge the actual discussion...

"Bitwig Von Mises"? Why make this edit to your post, after the original post (which mentioned Ayn Rand, not von Mises) had been quoted by Steve directly below? Are you somehow trying to make it look like Steve is the one incapable of staying on topic?Funk N. Furter wrote:With all due respect Steve, this is all complete and utter bollocks. Seems like you'll sink to any depth to avoid the uncomfortable fact you're getting your clock cleaned.

Re: "Marxists are clueless" (Funk N. Furter)
So you're now claiming that even though Marx clearly calls history as a science, he does not in fact call history a science?Funk N. Furter wrote:"We know only a single science, the science of history. One can look at history from two sides and divide it into the history of nature and the history of men. The two sides are, however, inseparable; the history of nature and the history of men are dependent on each other so long as men exist. The history of nature, called natural science, does not concern us here; but we will have to examine the history of men, since almost the whole ideology amounts either to a distorted conception of this history or to a complete abstraction from it. Ideology is itself only one of the aspects of this history."(Marxy Marx)
Thank you for confirming what I wrote.

Re: "Marxists are clueless" (Funk N. Furter)
It is good manners, when caught unwittingly (?) making a straw-man, to clarify, apologise, and move on. McFunk on the other hand has repeatedly explained that he is "never wrong", by which he of course means that he'll never admit to being wrong. This is why he constantly jumps track and tries to bury his foolishness.Bean Machine wrote:"Bitwig Von Mises"? His current defence against the multiple points I've raised consists of:
1. Calling me names
2. Posting quotes that support my points
3. Straw-manning
4. And claiming (ironically), that I'm incapable of discussion.

My bad, I seriously did not think you were intentionally supporting my points. Which you now apparently were. Glad we can finally agree on something.Funk N. Furter wrote:When did I claim that? Do you even know what Marx was writing about in that article?
